RV Campgrounds to Visit By Region
No matter where you are located in the country, there is a campground nearby that could be the next destination for your upcoming summer RV camping trip. There are hidden gems located across the country that are the perfect spots for summer camping. Today we want to share a list of our favorite campsites and recommendations for where you should plan your next trip based on what region you are located in.
The West Coast
Crater Lake National Park - Located in Klamath, Oregon, Crater Lake is an ideal location to summer RV camp at if you live or are visiting the Northwest region. The park creates a Summer Newspaper on their website that lists all of their summer park activities and amenities you should be aware of, including: food and dining, fishing, bicycling, swimming, wildlife viewing, and more.
Yosemite Pines RV- The Yosemite Pines RV is in Groveland California, just 22 miles from the Yosemite National Park's western entrance. They offer extra amenities like a large swimming pool, volleyball court, Bocce Ball courts, deli and Petting Farm! This is the perfect spot in the northwest for family fun!
Zion River Resort- This popular RV camping site in Virgin, Utah fills up quickly as soon as the summer season hits! We recommend to make a reservation early if you plan on visiting and looking at their website for 2019 rates, answers to your FAQs, and a list of their campground policies.
The Mid-West
Wells State Park - Wells State Park is located in Stephenson, Michigan, with 678 acres of modern campground to explore. Wells also features a three-mile beach shoreline for swimming, a large picnic area, and even rustic cabins if you are not an RVer. Although we recommend visiting during the summer season, the park is open year-round for winter outdoor activities lie skiing, ice fishing, and snowshoeing. Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park - The YellowStone Grizzly RV Park is in Montana, only four blocks away from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Some fun features to this park include the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, IMAX Theatre, and multiple aerial and ropes adventures courses! They also have activities available like horseback riding, hiking, float trips, and more.
The NorthEast
Acadia National Park -Nestled in Bar Harbor, Maine, Acadia National Park protects the natural beauty of the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline. Every year, over 3.3 million people visit the park to explore its seven peaks, 158 miles of hiking trails, and 45 miles of carriage roads. This is a great spot in the Northeast to get that coastal camping feel!
Taughannock Falls State Park- Taughannock Falls is one of the northeast's most beautiful natural attractions. Located in Ulysses, New York, the falls extends 215 feet down the gorge. There are numerous trails among the gorge, with campsites and cabins that overlook Cayuga Lake. There is a beach, marina, etc. that accompanies the lake, making it perfect for fun in the sun and water! During summer, the site hosts concerts along the lakefront, adding an extra element of entertainment to your camping trip at Taughannock.
The South
Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort- The HHI Motorcoach Resort gives you the "home away from home" vacation camping experience, just miles from the coast and beaches of the Atlantic. Located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, this campsite is perfect for those of you who want a relaxed island oasis, while having the convenience of amenities and social activities at your disposal. The campsite has a lake with lighted fountains, weekly propane delivery, and an onsite bike delivery service. This is the perfect option for someone who wants a little more 'glamping' than camping!
Stephen C. Foster State Park- This remote park located in Fargo, Georgia is a main entrance to the legendary Okefenokee Swamp, known as one of Georgia's seven natural wonders. With a lush, swamp-like appearance, the park is abundant with various wildlife, making it a great destination for animal lovers or avid wildlife observers. Some extra amenities this state park offers include boating, paddling, archery, and more!
