Although you may have already been camping in the warmer months of summer, fall camping has its perks. For one, the cooler weather attracts less bugs which is usually everyone's least favorite part of camping. Another advantage is less people populating RV parks, meaning more space for you and less noise from others. Make sure that before you set out on your next fall camping trip, your RV is fully stocked and prepped with the proper appliances. Along with prepping your actual RV or camper for your fall camping trip, you need to locate your desired camping location and the nearest RV parks in that area. There are amazing RV campgrounds across the country from East Coast to West Cost for convenience from anywhere in the U.S. We want to share our top ten picks on the best spots that will make deciding where to camp a breeze.
1. Coconino National Forest- Arizona: This National Forest will wow you with its diverse land from desert areas to volcanic rock over its 1.8 million acres. We recommend checking out the Kehl Springs Campground among others, but make sure to call ahead to check their availability.
2. Ozark National Forest- Arkansas: This National Forest covers over 1 million acres of the Ozark Mountains, has more than 230 hiking trails, and 6 rivers located inside for any of your favorite outdoor activities!
3. San Bernardino National Forest- California: Open year-round, this California favorite offers 100 miles of scenic views for all outdoor activities. The must-see attraction at San Bernardino is the Rim of the World Scenic Byway.
4. Cape Fair- Missouri: Located along the James River, Cape Fair is great for all you fisherman who want to catch and cook your own dinner! Trails are also located throughout the RV park to soak in the beautiful forestry.
5. Mark Twain National Forest- Missouri: Named after the famous author, Mark Twain, this extensive park stretches over 29 counties in the state. We suggest taking the Glade Top Trail National Scenic Byway for some of the best views.
6. Roosevelt State Park- Mississippi: Located in the South, this RV haven overlooks the Bienville National Forest and is home to amazing views of forestry and has many hiking trails throughout.
7. Acadia National Park- Maine: This park is loaded down with all of your favorite New England features such as shores and forestry. The main exhibit of Acadia is Park Loop Road, a 27-mile trek through the heart of the park.
8. Congaree National Park- South Carolina: Congaree is the largest old-growth hardwood forest remaining in the region and it is at the top of our RV camping bucket list. There are two campgrounds, one with and one without a camping fee associated.
9. Great Smoky Mountains National Park- Tennessee: "The Smokies" are a crowd favorite spot in the south. Fall and winter are the perfect opportunities to check out the mountains in your RV. Save the cabins for those less-equipped!
10. White Mountain National Forest- New Hampshire: White Mountain is a National Forest open year-round with over 20 campgrounds and miles of hiking trails. A popular destination for RV camping is the Kancamagus Scenic Byway.
